Kolkata, 16 October: CHIEF Minister Mamata Banerjee today evening called on her predecessor Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who has been keeping unwell since 13 October.
Banerjee’s convoy straightway drove from state secretariat Nabanna to the former Chief Minister’s residence at Palm Avenue off Ballygunge in the city. During her near 10-minute stay, she interacted with both Bhattacharjee and his wife Meera.
While wishing a speedy recovery, Banerjee told both of them to not to hesitate contacting her should there be need for any sort of assistance from the state government.
The former Chief Minister was taken ill on 13 October after he complained of breathing trouble and bled through the nose during a meeting at the CPI-M headquarters at Alimuddin Street. He was provided oxygen support and was taken to his residence under medical supervision.
Bhattacharjee is still bedridden at home and is being given oxygen support from time to time. It may be mentioned that the former CM is a patient of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for several years now.
