Kolkata: Changing her mind, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has decided to attend the meeting of the Niti Aayog on Sunday to be presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Banerjee usually does not go out of the state on any festive day but tomorrow she will fly to Delhi for the Niti Aayog meet the next day at 9 am. Sources said that the Chief Minister will take an evening flight after having attended the centralised Eid celebrations at Red Road in Kolkata during the day.
She has herself offered an explanation as regards the change of mind. “I was not inclined to go but had to change my mind due to the request from some Chief Ministers. We have certain things to discuss. Besides, this is the last Niti Aayog meet of Modi government,” Banerjee told reporters at Nabanna today.
The discussion with other Chief Ministers, whom she has not specifically named, will centre on firming up an anti-BJP alliance for the Lok Sabha polls next year, sources said.
