Midnapore, 10 October: MAMATA Banerjee has shunted out backward classes welfare minister Churamani Mahato from the post of Trinamool district president for Jhargram.

The move came after an administration review that Banerjee chaired in Jhargram in the capacity as Chief Minister and publicly rebuked Mahato for allegedly not maintaining contacts with common since becoming a minister last year.

The Chief Minister told the minister that she was getting adverse reports about him and he should at once mend his ways. “You used to till land earlier. Resume this soon so that you can get a pulse of the common people. Maintaining co-ordination with the BDOs is not your look out,” she warned.

Soon after the meeting, Mahato was replaced by Ajit Maity as the Trinamool district president for Jhargram. Sources said that the Trinamool supremo is so angry with Mahato that he might lose ministership in coming days if he does not med his ways.

Banerjee expressed her displeasure over the performance of 100-days job scheme and rural road development projects in Jhargram and asked district magistrate Jagdish Prasad Meena to increase co-ordination with the BDOs.

“I understand that it takes time to put everything in order in a new district, but that does not mean that it should take eternity,” she said. Jhargram was carved out as a district out of West Midnapore in April this year.
