Kalyani: Despite party president Amit Shah already facing a defamation suit for alleging embezzlement of funds by Mamta Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, BJP has once again traded guns on Abhishek.

BJP national general secretary and observer, Kailash Vijayvargiya, today alleged in no uncertain terms that Abhishek gets cut money from all the illegal hooch manufacturing units in Bengal.

“The illegal hooch industry in Bengal gets the protection of Abhishek Banerjee and the money from the reaches straight to his home in Kolkata. Given this, Abhishek is responsible for the recent deaths of 12 people by consuming spurious hooch at Santipur,” Vijayvargiya told reporters while visiting the bereaved families today.

The BJP leader maintained that there are two parallel governments running in Bengal.

“Mamata Banerjee’s government runs legal wine shops and Abhishek Banerjee’s government runs the illegal ones. Abhishek is the protector and beneficiary of almost all illegal trades in Bengal,” he said.

Vijayvargiya also took a dig at Mamata Banerjee government for suggesting that spurious hooch is actually being smuggled in from Bihar and Jharkhand, both of which are ruled by the BJP.

“If that is the case, have the police and the administration of been sleeping? Why not the police are arresting the smugglers?” he asked. “The fact is all those involved are Trinamool workers and leaders. Thus, instead of going after them, the government is trying to appease people by paying Rs 2-lakh for each of the deaths.”
