Abhishek filed the defamation suit in reaction alleged objectionable comments that the Union minister made against him in a news conference at Asansol on 30 November.
Taking note of the suit, judge Apurba Singha Roy of the City Sessions Court in Kolkata has issued an interim order directing Supriyo not to pass any remarks against Abhishek till next the hearing.
The court has also issued a notice to the Union minister to state why the order should not be extended until the case is disposed of. Supriyo shall have to respond within 14 days of receiving the notice.
Abhishek had last month filed a defamation suit against BJP leader Mukul Roy for alleging in a public meeting that Biswa Bangla logo and brand, which the state government is promoting using public money, are owned by Abhishek.
