Kolkata, 19 October: WITH Kolkata and most districts in south Bengal already witnessing light to moderate rainfall since morning, the Met office has now forecast isolated heavy rains in the region this evening.
According to the morning bulletin released by the Alipore Weather Observation Centre, there are acute chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall (up to 200) to occur in isolated parts of South 24-Parganas, North 24-Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, and Kolkata in the next 24-hours.
Some rains will also take place in north Bengal districts, but that will be negligible, the bulletin reads.
Much to the forecast, Kolkata has already witnesses up to 11 mm rain since this morning. According to Kolkata Municipal Corporation, it has rained 4.32 mm at Ultadanga, 3 mm at New Market, 2.29 mm at Dhapa (EM Bypass), 1 mm at Ballygunge, 7.11 mm at Alipore, 8.31 mm at Behala, and 10.92 mm at Patuli. The sky is still wet in most parts of the city, and this has brought down the temperature.
At Digha in East Midnapore, it has rained 29 mm between 8.30 am to 1.30 pm today, Alipore Weather Observation Centre has stated.
