Bankura, 15 September: THE superintendent of police of West Midnapore, IPS officer Bharati Ghosh, has miraculously survived an accident at Bishnupur in Bankura today morning.
The driver of her official vehicle, however, has been grievously injured and is now battling for life at the Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital.
Ghosh was travelling from Midnapore to Purulia to attend a security meeting of the superintendents of police of four Maoist-hit districts West Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura, and Birbhum.
Around 10 am as her official Bolero car JH-05BL-3273 was passing through Bishnupur Light House on National Highway 60, a bicycle suddenly came on the way. In saving the bicycle, the driver lost control and the white Bolero upturned right on the highway both Ghosh and driver getting trapped inside.
While Ghosh miraculously came out with minor scratches, the driver Subir Majumdar was hurt grievously. On being informed, a team of doctors rushed in from Bishupur District Hospital with an ambulance.
Majumdar was immediately rushed to the hospital; Ghosh received treatment at the accident site itself and left for Purulia in another vehicle.
