Asansol: AMIDST some back-to-back burglary in Durgapur town, miscreants have now looted the flat of a judge of Durgapur Sub-divisional Court at City Centre area in the town.
The break-in has taken place in the official quarter of Krishnendu Sarkar, the judicial magistrate of the 2nd court in Durgapur. Sarkar had left for Kolkata with family on 7 December putting the flat under lock and key.
They left behind a key with Mathu Ankure, who works as a part-time domestic help. She came to the flat today morning for dusting and found the lock broken. On stepping in, Ankure found all the rooms in disarray and the wardrobes ajar.
She at once called up the judge and he, in turn, alerted the police. A team from Durgapur-Asansol police commissonerate arrived and took stock of the break-in, but could not ascertain the items looted in the absence of anyone from the judge’s family. Police subsequently locked the flat.
The incident has come as a huge embarrassment for police as this is the third burglary that has taken place in Durgapur in the past 24-hours since 8 December. The cops are yet to arrest a single person in this connection.
