Behrampore: In yet another addition to the on-going muscle flexing centring around the Panchayat poll, suspected Trinamool backed miscreants today vandalised the house of a CPI-M MLA in Murshidabad district and hackled the MLA.
The incident took place at Murshidabad’s Bhagwangola, which is represented by CPI-M MLA Mahasin Ali.
The house of Ila Pandey, a CPI-M candidate for Murshidabad Zila Parishad election, was vandalised today morning by suspected Trinamool backed miscreants. Hearing this, Ali rushed to the spot and then accompanied Pandey to Bhagwangola police station to help her lodge a complaint.
As soon as the MLA returned home from the police station, a gang of miscreants raided his house and carried out massive vandalism. The MLA’s car was damaged and he was hackled when he tried to resist the vandalism.
Ali’s residence is located barely 200 metres from Bhagwangola police station and yet the police did not come to his rescue even after the MLA calling them repeatedly. The CPI-M MLA subsequently lodged a written complaint with sub-divisional police office of Lalbag.
