Behrampore: AS many as five persons, including a child and two policemen, were injured in a clash between members of a pro-RSS outfit and the police at Kandi in Murshidabad district.
The clash took place around 10.30 on Monday morning when the pro-RSS outfit took out an armed rally on the occasion of Ram Navami. Police stopped them a little before Kandi police station and seized the weapons.
Peeved at this, participants in the rally started pelting stones at the police. The cops, in turn, carried out a lathi-charge to disperse the violent crowd. This instead instigated them further and they vandalised a prison van that was parked in front of Kandi police station.
In the clash, two policemen, two participants of the rally, and a child suffered injuries. They were taken to a local hospital.
