Kolkata: The Indian Navy has deployed a specialised team of divers to look for a tourist car that fell into the Teesta river at Sevoke off Siliguri with the driver and three tourists from Rajasthan.

The mishap took place on 10 July but there is no trace of the two tourists ~ Gaurav Sharma and Gopal Narayani and the car yet.

The dead bodies of one tourist ~ Aman Garg and driver Rakesh Rai were found a few days ago.

The Defence authorities today said that the Naval Diving Team comprising 11 divers and two hydrographic experts were airlifted from the Easter Naval Command in Vizag to Siliguri yesterday 21 July.

This after the state government made a request to the Navy as both the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local rescue teams failed to meet with success even after the lapse of 12 days since the accident.

The Naval Diving Team, which has already commenced the search operation in the turbulent Teesta, is equipped with Side Scan Sonar and other state-of-the-art diving equipment.
