Kolkata, 07 August: A new Metro Railway route between New Garia and Ruby Hospital Crossing on EM Bypass in the city is likely to be thrown open for passenger services by June next year.
This 5.1 km stretch is part of the under-construction Metro line from New Garia to Dum Dum Airport via Rajarhat New Town with the total length being 29.1 km. New Garia, where Kavi Subhash station of the north-south Metro line is now functional, will act as a terminal station.
According to an official release from the Metro Railway today, work on the stretch between New Garia and Ruby Hospital Crossing (Hemanta Mukherjee Metro station) is progressing “on a war footing” and hence, they are hopeful of throwing it open by June 2018.
Between New Garia and Ruby Hospital Crossing, there are three stations ~ Ajay Nagar (at 1.6 km), Mukundapur (at 3 km), and Kalikapur (4.1 km). While Metro Railway has already elected concrete pillars for this elevated Metro line, placement of via-ducts and construction of the stations are now at an advance stage.
