Malda: PROF Swagata Sen today took over as the interim vice-chancellor of Gour Banga University in Malda, which has been mired in controversies since inception in 2008.
Sen, a teacher of commerce, has earlier served as the pro vice-chancellor (academic affairs) of Calcutta University.
On taking over his new chair today, 56-year-old Sen said that the government has appointed him as V-C for a term of six months. “I cannot plan a long-term reform in this short tenure, but will surely bring about some changes in running of the university with the focus being on the students.”
Sen said that he was aware of recent erroneous results published by Gour Banga University for first and second-year undergraduate exams. “I will seat with the examination branch at the earliest and will try making amends along with ensuring that such errors do not recur,” the academician hailing from Salt Lake in Kolkata said.
