Darvit School reopens on 3 conditions

Siliguri: Darvit High School at Islampur in North Dinajpur, which was lying shut ever since two youths died of bullet injuries on 21 September following a police-student clash, reopened on Saturday.

The agitating villagers handed over the keys to Islampur SDO on the condition that the suspended headmaster and assistant headmaster shall be arrested, unconditional release of eight villagers lodged in jail custody, and ordering a CBI probe into the incident.

Although the school reopened today, classes were not held as all the classrooms and the compound are in a mess.

Meanwhile, the dead bodies of the two deceased youths still remain buried in the village in the hope of a CBI probe.
