Barasat: A teenage boy, who was to appear for the higher secondary exam from today, has been found dead by the railway track near Bally station in Howrah.
The incident took place around 11 pm yesterday night and the deceased has been identified as Anirban Nandi (18), who Studied commerce at Jyotinagar HS School at Baranagar in North 24-Parganas.
According to his family, Anirban left their Baranagar Gopal Thakur Road home around 8 pm yesterday saying that he was going to the local club to play carom to distress for the exam. Significantly, before leaving home, he posted a photo of himself on Facebook with the word “Bye” and also left the WhatsApp group of friends.
As his family started looking for him after Arnab did not return till late in the night, the GRP personnel from Belur station found his dead body lying by the railway tracks near Bally station. He was mowed dead by a Burdwan-Howrah local train.
Going by the Facebook post and his leaving the WhatsApp group of friends, police suspect that Anirban ended his life by coming before the train. Police, however, are not clear whether it was because of exam phobia or due to some other reason.
