Siliguri: A man in his 40’s has been found dead next to his in-law’s house at Karandighi in North Dinajpur district in mysterious circumstances.
Police have identified the man as Sahadeb Biswas, a resident of Tungidighi area, and a vegetable vendor by profession. His in-law’s house is located at Bhangabari village, which is about 1.5 km from his house.
On Sunday night around 8 pm, Sahadeb left his home saying that he was going to the in-law’s house. Since he did not reach there even late in the night and was not reachable on mobile phone, family members started searching for him right from the dawn today.
This led to the vegetable vendor being found dead by a pond barely 500 metres from the house of his in-laws. There was no visible injury mark on his body but a water bottle was lying next to the corpse.
This trigger a sensation in the area and people began gathering at the spot from nearby villages. Learning about this, a team from Karandighi police station went and sent the dead body for post-mortem.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and said that the cause of death can only be ascertained on receipt of the post-mortem report. Sahadeb’s in-laws have said that they have no clue what he was doing near their house last night as he did not visit them.
