Behrampore: A Trinamool worker has died after miscreants lobbed crude bombs on a Trinamool public meeting in Murshidabad district.
The incident took place today morning at Ghoshpara under Jalangi police station jurisdiction. The deceased has been identified as Hamidul Islam (22).
Trinamool had convened the meeting at Ghoshpara today as a warm up to the January rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. As Trinamool workers were gradually assembling at the venue, some miscreants lobbed crude bombs there.
Hamidul suffered critical injuries in the attack even as others managed to escape unhurt. The young Trinamool worker breathed his last while being taken to the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital at Behrampore.
Trinamool has pointed finger at Congress for the attack. But local Congress leaders denied the charge and maintained that it was the outcome of a rivalry between new and old Trinamool factions fighting for prominence.
