Kolkata: Air Commodore D Vedajna has taken over as the new air officer commanding (AOC) of the Arjan Singh Air Force Station based at Panagarh in West Burdwan.
A Vishist Seva Medal recipient, Air Com Vedajna succeeds Air Com A Suresh Kumar.
To mark the occasion, the air warriors of the station presented a ceremonial parade.
The parade was reviewed by the outgoing AOC, and following this, he handed over the charge of the station to the new officer.
Air Com Vedajna is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned in the Fighter wing of Air Force in 1988.
He is a pilot attack instructor and a fighter strike leader. He has over 2,700 hours of flying credit on MIG-21 and Jaguar fighter jets.
Air Com Vedajna has been a chief operations officer of a premier airbase and a commanding officer of SAGW Squadron of IAF. He has served as IAF team leader of Indian MRSAM Project Team in Israel for co-developing the MRSAM weapon system.
