Kolkata, 17 October: PRESIDENT Pranab Mukherjee is arriving in Kolkata on 19 October, on a three-day visit of Bengal. This is part of the annual visit that he undertakes during the Durga Puja every year.

According to West Bengal government sources, the President will land by a special flight at the NSC Bose International airport in Kolkata at 1 pm in the afternoon of 19 October Monday.

After spending three full days in Bengal, he will fly back to Delhi by a special flight at 11.30 am on 22 October Thursday.

President’s son and Lok Sabha MP Abhijit Mukherjee told Newsmen tonight that the President would participate in the family Durga Puja at their native house Kirnahar in Birbhum.

“He will travel to Kirnahar on 19 October itself and will be a part of our traditional Durga Puja. He will recite Chandi as he has been doing all through the years,” Mukherjee said.

The President lost his wife Suvra on 18 August this year. Going by Hindu rituals, children bereaved of their parents cannot participate in a puja for a year, but there is no such bar in case of a man and wife.
