Siliguri: In the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls due in next five months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off BJP’s campaign in Bengal later this month.
According to state BJP leader, Mukul Roy, the PM will address a series of public meetings in the state starting with Siliguri on 16 December.
Next, Modi will address a rally at Malda on 28 December, at Serampore in Hooghly on 5 January, and at Krishnanagar in Nadia on 11 January. “He might address a rally in Kolkata as well but the date is yet to be finalised,” Roy said.
This apart, BJP president Amit Shah will flag off the party’s Ganatanra Adhikar Rath from Cooch Behar on 7 December. Similar Raths will roll out from Kakdwip in South 24-Parganas and elsewhere in the state.
BJP has also lined up a series of public meetings by other national leaders and state Chief Ministers. They include Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union home minister Rajnath Singh, Union finance minister Arun Jaitley, party’s star MP Hema Malini, and Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb.
The meetings will take place throughout December-January.
