Kolkata, 17 October: A middle-aged man, who was hospitalised for mental ailments, was found hanging at Vivekananda Hospital at Behala in south Kolkata.
Prabin Naskar was a resident of Vivekanandapur under Maheshtala police station jurisdiction in South 24-Parganas. He was brought to the hospital on 11 October and was admitted to the male ward on the ground floor.
Today morning, a nurse found Naskar missing from his bed. As she looked around for him, she spotted her hanging with a cotton towel from the ceiling of the washroom located next to the ward.
The nurse alerted the authorities, who in turn informed the Parnasree police station at Behala. Police retrieved the dead body and referred it to post-mortem.
Family of the deceased man said that he was suffering from mental ailments for the past few months and was admitted to the hospital as his condition deteriorated. He used to earn livelihood by providing tuition to school students.
