Kolkata: The family of BJP worker Trilochan Mahato (18), who was found murdered in Purulia on 30 May, has moved Calcutta High Court demanding a CBI probe.
Mahato’s father, Hariram Mahato, today filed a writ petition in the High Court saying that he does not have faith in the state CID investigation and the investigation rather be handed to the Central agency.
“It is a known fact that Trilochan was an active BJP worker and needle of suspicion is on the rival political party in power. Hence, the family is of the opinion that police and CID are not pursuing the probe in the right direction. Thus the family has moved the appeal today,” said advocate Priyanka Tibrewal, who is representing the family.
Tibrewal added that the petition is likely to come up for hearing in the single-judge bench of justice Topobrata Chakraborty.
Trilochan Mahato, a resident of Supurdi village under Balarampur police station jurisdiction in Purulia, was found hanging in a nearby forest with a poster nearby declaring that he has been punished for joining the BJP.
