Kolkata, 18 May: CHIEF Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee will be travelling to New Delhi again on 24 May Wednesday to attend a meeting of major opposition leaders to pick a consensus candidate for the Presidential election.

The meeting convened by Congress president Sonia Gandhi is likely to be held on 25 May at her 10 Janpath Road residence in the Capital.

Mamata Banerjee returned to Kolkata only today after having stayed in Delhi for three days. She had gone to Delhi on 15 May and the next day held a meeting with Sonia Gandhi on the Presidential election and opposition unity to deter the rapid electoral gain of the BJP all over India.

On that occasion, Mamata Banerjee had told media persons that another round of meeting would be held in Delhi to finalise a consensus candidate for the post of President as Pranab Mukherjee’s term is due to end in July.

Going by the overall strengths of MLAs in all the states and MPs of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, the opposition is in a better position than that of the ruling NDA led by BJP.
