Howrah, 28 September: A JAWAN of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been removed from duty after he shot two bullets from his service rifle at Howrah railway station on Monday morning.
Satish Kumar is said to have fired the bullets accidentally when he was posted at the entry gate number 1 in front of platform number 17 at Howrah station’s new complex. The bullets did not hurt anyone and instead hit the ceiling of the platform.
The outbound Falaknuma Express was stationed at platform number 17 with a large number of passengers in the vicinity, when the incident happened. This led to panic among the passengers.
The jawan was apprehended by his co-soldiers and was taken aside for questioning. Initial questioning suggests that the bullets went off accidentally, although RPF authorities have initiated a formal probe into the incident.
