Kolkata: CID officials today found around Rs 2-crore in cash from a flat at Bansdroni in south Kolkata.

The flat belongs to a man known to MAV Raju, husband of former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh who is being probed for multiple cases of extortion when she was in service.

CID sources claimed that Raju used to keep the keys to the flat, and recently, Ghosh’s security guard Sujit Mondal stashed the huge cash there. Mondal, along with Ghosh, has been absconding since CID started the investigation on 2 February.

The CID team went to the flat today morning and video-graphed the entire raid that led to the discovery of bundles of new currency notes accounting around Rs 2-crore.

On Tuesday, CID officers had confiscated nearly 100-bhori gold from two bank lockers of Ghosh at the UCO Bank Southern Avenue branch.
