Kolkata: RSS has sent a legal notice to Trinamool secretary general and state education minister Partha Chatterjee.
This is over Chatterjee’s 21 September media statement that RSS-BJP was behind the student unrest at Darvit High School in Islampur in North Dinajpur.
This comes on a day the families of Tapas Barman and Rajesh Sarkar, who died of bullet injury following a police-student clash at the school on 20 September, filed separate petitions in the Calcutta High Court demanding a CBI probe and a compensation of Rs 20-lakh each.
By sending the legal notice today, RSS has asked Chatterjee as to why defamation suit should not be filed against him for maligning the organisation.
Earlier on 22 September, RSS had held a Press conference and demanded that the education minister should tender a public apology for making an unsubstantial allegation.
