Kolkata: Samsung is eager to open a Bengaluru-type Opera House experience and fun centre in Kolkata provided the company gets a suitable heritage building for this, Manu Sharma, Samsung’s vice president for mobile business in India, said today.
Sharma was in Kolkata today to launch Samsung’s first triple camera smartphone in India ~ Galaxy A7 ~ that comes with a side fingerprint sensor. This latest phone comes with 24MP main, 5MP live focus, and 8MP ultra-wide cameras that will enable a user to take extra-wide pictures and videos even in low light condition.
Elaborating on the features, Sharma said that while the 24MP main camera will allow taking 78-degree wide snaps/videos in low light conditions, the 8MP ultra-wide camera will allow 120-degree wide view, that is, the same viewing angle as the human eye.
The 5MP camera will enable live focus feature that controls the depth of field so that the background of a photo can be blurred out and vice-versa. Users can use this feature both during and after clicking photos.
Another interesting feature is ‘AR Emoji’ wherein a user can create customised GIF images of self or a friend by choosing from a set of GIF image styles soon on taking a snap.
“Galaxy A7 range is priced at Rs 23,990 (4GB/64GB variant) and Rs 28,990 (6GB/128 GB variant) and comes in three colours ~ blue, black and gold. The smartphone will be available on Samsung’s online store and Flipkart from 27 September. In retail outlets the same will be available from 29 September,” Sharma said.
On 12 September, Samsung started an experience and fun centre at Bengaluru’s heritage landmark Opera House. Here, apart from experiencing all Samsung products hands-on, getting repair services, learning about the latest technology, there is a stage for stand-up comedy, interactive sessions, etc.
“We will be eager to start a similar facility in Kolkata provided we get a suitable heritage property at a suitable location,” Sharma said, adding that the company was open to proposals from Kolkata on this.
