Kolkata: More often than not, an incoming WhatsApp message while watching a video on the smartphone annoys the user. Because every time a message is received, one needs to close the video so to send a reply.
But Samsung today launched four new smartphones on which one need not close the video so to chat through WhatsApp or other messaging apps. The chat-over-video feature of these phones allows one to continue chatting while simultaneously watching the video.
“This will be possible through a transparent chat window and keyboard that will pop out while the video is still streaming,” explained Samsung India’s vice president Manu Sharma, who launched the Galaxy J6, J8, A6 and A6+ smartphones in Kolkata today. “These phones are specially built for the millennial.”
The other features, which Samsung considers will woo people in buying the new phones include ~ 15 per cent more display area, an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, and dual rear cameras that let users capture professional grade images.
Galaxy A6+, A6 (4/64GB) and A6 (4/32GB) are priced at Rs 25,990, Rs 22,990 and Rs 21,990, respectively. Galaxy J8, Galaxy J6 (4/64GB) and J6 (3/32GB) variants are priced at Rs 18,990, Rs 16,490 and Rs 13,990, respectively.
“We have tied up with Paytm Mall that will allow a consumer to pay through the app while picking up the phone from an offline retailer. This will give consumers Rs 3,000 cashback on the Galaxy A6, A6+ and Rs 1,500 on J6, J8. The offer is valid in 25,000 retail outlets across India where Paytm Mall payment is accepted,” Sharma said.
Sharma said that with the launch of these four new smartphones, Samsung is eye to add 5 per cent additional growth in market share this year. According to GFK report, the company’s market share stood at 41 per cent this March.
“In Bengal, our market share is even higher at 46.5 per cent (March) and we are confident that the new launch will bring in another 5 per cent sales at the least. Apart from online platforms, our phones are available in 14,000 outlets across Bengal and nearly 100 of them are exclusive stores,” he said.
