Behrampore, 29 October: A 58-year old woman has died by saving her son from a crude bomb attack at a village in Murshidabad district.
The incident took place late on yesterday at Gulahatia village under Salar police station, which is about 45 km from the district headquarters Behrampore. The deceased has been identified as Tasema Bibi.
In an FIR lodged at Salar police station, her son Dayal Seikh has alleged that a group of 10 people led by Hamid Seikh raided his house around 11.30 pm on Wednesday. Hamid and Dayal have been locked in a dispute over the ownership of a farmland for the past seven-eight years.
Hamid and his accomplices were all armed with firearms and crude bombs. Sensing danger in this, Dayal’s mother Tasema compelled him to flee from the house. Tasema then came out of the house on the understanding that she being a woman, Hamid’s group would not attack her and would go back instead.
But proving her wrong, the group lobbed multiple crude bombs, killing Tasema on the spot. Hamid and his accomplices then left the village, threatening that they would not spare Dayal at any cost.
Dayal lodged the FIR naming Hamid and another nine persons this morning. Police are looking for the accused as they have gone hiding. Both the accused and the victim families are supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress.
