Kolkata, 2 September: A MUMBAI Police team on Wednesday evening obtained a written statement from prime accused Indrani Mukherjea’s live-in partner and murdered Sheena Bora’s father Siddhartha Das at his rented house in Dum Dum in north Kolkata.
The two member Mumbai Police team led by Parmeswar Kamble reached Das’ two-bedroom house at Durganagar in Dum Dum around at 8 pm and spoke to him for about two hours. The Mumbai Police team was accompanied by cops from the Dum Dum police station.
Earlier in the day, Das had received a call from a senior Mumbai Police officer asking him to be prepared for questioning.
After the Mumbai Police team left Duganagar without responding to queries from media persons who waited outside all this while, Das told reporters: “I have handed over them a written statement. I cannot reveal the contents of the statement as the matter is confidential.”
He clarified that the Mumbai Police team did not speak to his wife Babli Das or his son, who were present in the house during the questioning.
Das, aged around 45-years, had emerged before media in Kolkata yesterday and had claimed that he is the biological father of Mikhail and Sheena Bora.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Mumbai Police team visited the residences of arrested Sanjeev Khanna and his friend Ajay Rawla at Alipore in Kolkata. The team seized two laptops, mobile phone, passbooks and other financial documents belonging to Khanna.
The Mumbai police team is trying to track the money-trail since the murder of Sheena Bora in 2012.
Sources said that over the past three years, Khanna’s financial condition had improved notably. He used to visit a well-known club every weekend and used to boast of his sound financial status. He had also posted on Facebook about opening a new restaurant in Kolkata.
The police team is also trying to find out whether any money had exchanged hands between Khanna and his ex-wife Indrani Mukerjea as they were said to be in regular touch over FB and e-mails despite being divorced.
