Siliguri: The chairman of Siliguri Primary Education Council has stepped down citing personal reasons.
People in his close circles, however, maintained that Pranab Bhattacharya has been compelled to step down as he had rubbed a Trinamool-affiliated teachers’ union the wrong way.
Bhattacharya, who was chairman of Siliguri Primary Education Council since 2017, sent his resignation letter to the state education department today morning.
The department has readily accepted his resignation.
Asked about this, Bhattacharya said that he has stepped down on purely personal reasons and there was no pressure on him.
“I want to focus on teaching and will re-join Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University from where I had come.”
