Siliguri, 19 December: NEW Year will bring cheers to passport seekers in Siliguri and the rest of north Bengal.
Regional Passport Office in Kolkata is opening a Passport Seva Laghu Kendra (PSLK) in Siliguri from January. It will be housed in the Himanchal Vihar Market Complex located behind Uttarayan at Matigara.
State tourism minister Gautam Deb today paid a visit to the complex to take stock of the interior work for the PSLK Siliguri and expressed satisfaction at the progress made so far.
Once thrown open, it will be of much relief to the people of north Bengal as they will no longer be required to travel to Kolkata to appear for passport application interview. As of now, Siliguri only has a passport application collection centre located at Gurung Basti.
