Kolkata: Bengali singer Pratik Choudhury is no more. He suffered a cardiac arrest this evening and breathed his last in a private hospital in Kolkata.
Choudhury, who was 55, suffered a cardiac arrest in front of his residence today evening and collapsed to the ground.
Family members rushed him to the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital at EM Bypass at 7.23 pm. Doctors at once started a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and intubation on him to get his heart back to normal again.
“CPR was continued for 41 minutes but unfortunately he did not respond to resuscitation. He was declared dead at 8.04 pm,” the hospital has said in a media statement.
Choudhury, a graduate from Calcutta University, began his music career in 1994 by singing jingles. Subsequently, he rendered voice to Rabindra Sangeet, gazals, modern Bengali songs and so on.
He has sung in numerous TV serials, Bengali movies and, took out several solo audio and video albums.
Bengali film director Aniket Chatterjee said that of late he was recording playback songs for his upcoming film. The latest recording was done only last week.
