Kolkata: As many as 10 children got injured, one of them critically, in a mishap at Eco Park in New Town Kolkata.
The mishap took place Sunday evening when the children were engrossed in playing on a jumping balloon inside Eco Park. Around 7.30 pm, the squall that lashed over Kolkata unhinged the jumping balloon of its rope anchor and flung it in the air some 25 feet away.
This left the children injured in varying degrees in the hand, head, arms, and legs. One of them, identified only by his first name as Rayan, suffered a grievous injury in the head.
Guardian accompanying the children rushed them to a private hospital at Salt Lake with the help of Eco Park staff. Five of the children were admitted for treatment, the rest were discharged on first-aid. The child named Rayan has been admitted to the intensive care unit.
Eco Park is owned by the state government, which has hired several private firms to maintain and operate the amusement facilities located inside.
