Kolkata: A Bangladeshi youth, suspected to be attached to terror outfit Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), has been arrested from Kolkata airport.
He has been identified as Hussain Muhammad Shoaib, a resident of Brahmanbaria in Bangladesh. Police have found on him an Aadhar card issue in India and a Bangladeshi Passport.
Shoaib, 31, was detained at Kolkata airport last night after he was found loitering aimlessly. The arrest came today morning after an overnight interrogation.
Police claim that Shoaib was in Uttar Pradesh before and came to Kolkata recently. On the face of questioning by police, he has reportedly informed that he was to fly to Agartala yesterday evening but changed the plan at the last moment and booked a ticket for New Delhi instead.
But before he could board the flight to New Delhi, the Bangladeshi youth was detained by police. He has apparently confessed to being a member of ISIS.
NSCBI Airport police station produced him at the Barrackpore court during the day today and the judge has sent him to seven days in police custody. Cops are questioning him to find out his exact plan and the people who have been supporting him here in India.
