Kolkata: A middle-aged woman has succumbed to swine flu at Salt Lake in Kolkata after being hospitalised for nearly a month.
The victim, Mousumi Mishra (49) was a resident of Salt Lake FE Block. Her son is studying engineering.
According to Mishra’s aunt Bani Mukherjee, she developed a fever on 18 October on the day of Navami Durga Puja. The family got her admitted to the private AMRI Hospitals at Salt Lake the next day. Mishra was subsequently diagnosed with swine flu.
“Despite being hospitalised at the upscale hospital as soon as she fell ill, the doctors have failed to cure her. They say that Mousumi’s lung and kidneys were affected by the swine flu virus. She was kept on ventilator support last night and died today morning,” Mukherjee said.
