Howrah: A teenage girl has been found murdered in a locked house at Bagnan in Howrah. The house is that of a youth whom she had befriended.

The murdered girl has been identified as Ishita Dutta (14), who lived with her parents at Bagnan’s ND Block. The girl used to attend a coaching class at Bagnan town and in the course of this, she befriended a youth named Subhamoy Mondal, who works at a photocopying shop nearby.

Yesterday evening, Ishita left her home saying that she was going to the coaching centre. But instead, she went to Subhamoy’s residence at Tepur Nabasan area of Bagnan.

When the teenage girl did not return home in the evening, her parents set out looking for her. During this, Ishita’s classmates told them that she did not go to the coaching centre and rather, was supposed to visit Subhamoy’s residence with his mother.

The worried parents at once rushed to Subhamoy’s residence to find the house under lock and key. They then reported the matter to Bagnan police station. A police team subsequently broke open the house to find Ishita lying dead on a bed with her hands and legs tried with a rope.

Police sent the dead body for post-mortem. Cops are certain that the teenage girl has been murdered. Meanwhile, even since the crime, there is no trace of Subhamoy or any of his family members.
