Cooch Behar: A teenage boy has died in Cooch Behar district after he was rescued with severe burns from the residence of his girlfriend, who is eight years older to him.
The incident has taken place at Dinhata police station area and the deceased boy has been identified as Mrinmoy Bose (16).
Mrinmoy was a resident of Dinhata’s Babupara locality and fell in love with a 24-year-old girl from neighbouring Gopalnagar area. Despite his family’s objection to the relationship, Mrinmoy was adamant and used to often visit the girl’s house.
On 18 June afternoon, neighbours of the girl heard the cries for help and on rushing in they found Mrinmoy in flames. The neighbours rushed the boy to Dinhata hospital with severe burns. He passed away the next day.
Mrinmoy’s father, Rajib Bose, has lodged an FIR against his girlfriend and her mother, who have gone hiding by putting their house under lock and key.
