Siliguri: Digital museums have been thrown open in three railway stations in north Bengal to give passengers a peep into the history and heritage of Indian Railways.
Indian Railways took up a project to set up digital museums in 53 select railway stations in the country and of them, three are in north Bengal under the jurisdiction of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
The three railway stations are Darjeeling, Siliguri Town and, Jalpaiguri.
The digital museums that have been recently thrown open at these stations include digital screens of different dimensions for display of multi-media content relating to the history and latest initiatives in Indian Railways, said NF Railway spokesperson PJ Sharma.
The aim is to showcase the legacy of the Railways in one or two-minute clips. In addition to this, QR code based posters on Railway Heritage have been put up at these stations and passengers can scan the QR code on smartphones to stream video on various aspects of the railway heritage.
