Kolkata: Leading watch brand, Titan, today launched a collection of customisable watches with the design entirely themed on Kolkata.

This is the first-ever attempt in India, not only for Titan but for any watch manufacturer, to design watches themed on a specific region or culture.

A few years ago, Titan had brought out watches themed on the Mumbai terror attack but that was part of a corporate social responsibility drive to provide financial support to the victims.

Launching the first-ever commercial theme range of watches today, named the ‘Forever Kolkata Collection’, Titan’s chief marketing officer for watches and accessories, Suparna Mitra, said that it is a tribute to everything that the City of Joy has to offer.

The collection comes in four theme varieties with the dials showcasing the Howrah Bridge, Victoria Memorial, Dakshineswar Kali Temple, and the Bengali letters. The collection has versions designed both for men and women.

“Another unique aspect of this collection is that one can get the watches customised as per his/her wish. We are offering six different types of dials, four types of straps, and two varieties of cases to choose from. This customisation facility, however, will be available only at our Park Street showroom,” Mitra added.

Titan’s regional business head for eastern India, Rajeshwari Srinivasan, said that to begin with, they have manufactured 5,000 watches under the Kolkata Forever Collection.

“In the past 30 years of our journey since 1987, we have sold 1-crore watches alone in Kolkata. This unique theme collection watches being priced in the range of Rs 4,610 to Rs 6,920, we hope that it will be a big hit among the people of Bengal and those who love the Bengali culture,” Srinivasan said.

Titan will make the Kolkata collection watches available at all its 20 showrooms in Kolkata from 14 April, the eve of Bengali New Year. People will also be able to buy the watches from this collection on Titan’s official website but without customisation.
