Kolkata: To avoid a clash with the Lok Sabha polls due mid-2019, the higher secondary exams in Bengal next year has been advanced by a month than the usual calendar.
Going by the exam schedule announced by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, the annual exams for both higher secondary first and second year will kick off on 26 February next year and the theory exams will be over on 13 March.
This is both for the old and new syllabus. The first day of the exam has been allotted to mother tongue paper. The timing for HS first year is 2 pm – 5.15 pm and for HS second year 10 am – 1.15 pm.
The lab practical exams for HS second year will start even earlier on 14 December this year and conclude on 11 January. Practical exams for performing arts subjects will start on 2 January and conclude on 11 January. In case of Darjeeling Hills, all the practical exams for HS second year will be held between 15 and 30 March.
As regards the HS first year, all the practical exams will be held at one go between 25 March and 13 April in the entire state, including Darjeeling Hills.
This year, the HS theory exams were conducted between 27 March and 11 April.
