Midnapore: A tourist returning home after holidaying in Digha sea beach in East Midnapore has died in the train.
The incident took place today in the Digha-Satragachi EMU Local that left Digha station at 5.40 in the morning. The deceased has been identified as Debiprasad Pathak (62), a resident of Jagacha in Howrah.
Pathak and had his friend Sudarshan Das had gone to Digha on 10 July. They scheduled their return by Digha-Satragachi EMU Local today. However, the train time being early in the morning, the two were a little late in arriving at the station. They somehow managed to board the train by running through the platform.
Due to the running, Pathak was taken ill soon after boarding the train. His friend raised an alarm and this made Railway Protection Force personnel stop the train ahead of Ramnagar rail station. A completely unconscious Pathak was taken down and then rushed to Digha State General Hospital at 6.45 am by an ambulance arranged by RPF.
But on reaching the hospital, the on-duty doctor declared Pathak dead on arrival.
