Cooch Behar: A Trinamool worker has died and three are injured after a four-wheeler carrying BJP cadres rammed into a Trinamool rally.
The mishap occurred at Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar district. The deceased has been identified as Jogen Barman. The three injured have been admitted to a hospital in Cooch Behar.
The four-wheeler with BJP cadres was returning to Mathabhaga this afternoon from Jhinaidanga ground in Cooch Behar where a BJP public rally was addressed by state president Dilip Ghosh and others.
At Hindustan More area of Mathabhanga, the driver lost control and the four-wheeler rammed into a Trinamool rally that was passing by. Soon after this, the driver and the BJP cadres fled abandoning the vehicle on the spot.
Trinamool cadre Barman died on the spot. Local people rescued three other Trinamool cadres in an injured condition and rushed to a hospital in Cooch Behar.
Angry over the accident, other Trinamool workers vandalised the vehicle and were about to torch it that a police team reached and calmed them down.
