Howrah: Nine days since a teenage girl was found murdered in a locked house at Bagnan in Howrah, police have succeeded in arresting three persons from Tamil Nadu for the crime.

The arrest was made today by a team from Bagnan police who had gone to Chennai tracking the suspects. The arrested trio are Subhamoy Mondal, his mother Sushmita Mondal and father Mahitosh Mondal.

Subhamoy worked in a photocopying shop located opposite the coaching centre where victim Ishita Dutta (14) used to attend private tuition. He befriended the Ishita and made her go to his house on 25 July afternoon by bunking tuition classes.

Her dead body with hands and legs tied up were recovered by police that very night from Subhamoy’s house at Tepur Nabasan area of Bagnan. By then the youth and his parents had fled by putting the house under lock and key.

Following the recovery of the dead body, police started a murder case against Subhamoy on the basis of a complaint lodged by Ishita’s father. Police finally tracked down him and his parents off Chennai today.

Bagnan police sources said that the trio will be produced in a court there tomorrow and then brought to Howrah on a transit remand.
