Kolkata: Bidhannagar Police have arrested two high school teachers for allegedly being involved in a School Service Commission (SSC) fake job racket and have seized Rs 8.5-lakh in cash from the house of one of them.
Apart from them, four more persons ~ job seekers ~ have been arrested. The arrests were made in two separate raids conducted yesterday and today.
This after the SSC yesterday lodged an FIR in Bidhannagar East police station on getting a wind that huge bribe was being collected by a racket from job aspirants for appointments in SSC’s fourth grade posts.
Reacting quickly, Bidhannagar Police arrested five persons from near the SSC office at Salt Lake yesterday. Four of them are job seekers, who had paid bribe and one, Suresh Jana is a school teacher from Mathurapur in South 24-Parganas district.
On grilling Jana, police today arrested Abhijit Routh, who too is a teacher in a school at Mathurapur. Following his arrest, police seized Rs 8.5-lakh in cash seized and several forged documents from his house at Baruipur.
