Cooch Behar: Within two days of the Lok Sabha polls being over in the district, a Trinamool worker has been murdered in Cooch Behar.
This has happened at Mathabhanga’s Hazrahat locality and the deceased has been identified as Biswajit Talukdar (45). He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
According to his widow, Talukdar went out around 9 pm last night after a group of five Trinamool cadres of their locality called him out. After this, all of them gathered at a nearby spot and started drinking.
Talukdar did not return home in the night and, today morning neighbours spotted his body lying by a nearby railway track. There are multiple injury marks on the body: an arm was fractured and both the eyes were bulging from wounds.
On being alerted, a police team came and sent the body to Cooch Behar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
Police have detained a Trinamool worker named Sadikul Mia and have launched a manhunt for four others. These are the five at whose call Talukdar went out last night.
