Asansol: The decomposed body of a middle-aged woman has been found in a house that was taken on rent by her partner in Burdwan town.

Police and neighbours suspect it to be a case of murder as the deceased woman’s partner has gone into hiding.

The incident has taken place at Burdwan’s Khargeswar Pally locality today. The woman has been identified as Shobha Naskar (45), a resident of Daspukur, which is not very far.

The house made with bamboo and asbestos, where the dead body has been found, was taken on rent three years ago by one Kshitish alias Kala Mirdha. He too is a native of Daspur.

Neighbours said that the deceased woman and Mridha often used to visit the rented house and spend night together. But for the last four-five days, the house was locked from outside.

Today morning, the neighbours got a strong foul smell emitting out from the house. Some of them joined hands and broke open the door only to find Naskar’s decomposed body lying on the bed.

Given the level to which the body had decomposed, the neighbours suspect that the woman died at least three days ago.

They at once alerted police. The cops retrieved the dead body and sent it for post-mortem to the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. A manhunt is on for the woman’s parent who is absconding.
